Active Release

What is Active Release Technique?

Active Release Technique (ART) is a highly successful approach to injuries of muscle, tendons, nerves and the surrounding soft tissues. Active Release uses deep tissue massage to the connective tissues while moving them through their range of motion.

ART is a deep muscle therapy that relieves tension and promotes fuller range of motion, while reducing scar tissue formation, muscle imbalance, and nerve entrapments.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses their hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons and ligaments and nerves. The provider treats abnormal tissues by combining precisely directed tension and very specific patient movements.

These treatment protocols are unique to ART and include over 500 specific moves. They allow providers to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie cutter approach, and it is complementary to other forms of chiropractic care.

All Chiropractors at Fairwood Chiropractic are certified annually in Active Release Technique.
